Story Line:
In the future when the aging gene has been switched off, people must pay to stay alive. To avoid overpopulation, time has become the currency that people use to pay for luxuries and necessities from a clock implanted in their forearm. This can easily be transferred among individuals on body contact. The rich can live forever, while the rest try to negotiate for their immortality. A poor young man is accused of murder when he inherits a fortune of time from a dead upper class man, though too late to help his mother from dying. He is forced to go on the run from a corrupt police force known as ‘time keepers’.
Review:
There will be no deep psychological or sociological analysis in this movie. Deep and thoughtful people will never be satisfied with it. It’s an entertaining movie with a very good idea behind it. I believe Timberlake does a good job with the role he has here, despite some arguing that it wasn’t the best choice for the lead role.
Also, Alex Pettyfer plays a role that suggests he is more than a pretty face. While still not a real challenge, this may lead to more serious roles for him in the future. The film gained quite a bit of momentum during the “Occupy” movement (you can see why after watching it), but it will never be able to rival movies like Blade Runner and others. Watch this tension-filled Sci-Fi Thriller without judging it like that though, and you’ll have a good time.
